Sunday Brunch at Thomson’s in the Calgary Hyatt

I had an excellent buffet lunch today at Thomson’s in the Calgary Hyatt.  It was a nice walk from my hotel, on a quiet Easter Sunday.

It’s still within the 8 days of Passover, so I was delighted to find several good dishes that were free of leaven, wheat, barley, oats…  They even had a flour-less chocolate tort (makes me wonder if it was made especially for Passover), and a lemon sort-of-mousse in a small wine glass.  I had an custom omelet, and a plate of salmon and mostly steamed and grilled veggies (asparagus, zucchini, potatoes) and a some nice Gouda and Oka cheese.

And guess what, at the end, the waiter told me there was no charge.  I was shocked.  Maybe they felt sorry for a single guy out of town on a holiday weekend?  Or maybe since I said I found them on Google, they knew I would write this blog.
